Inness's Catskill Mountains — those rounded, blue-green ridges receding into haze, foreground trees framing a valley that seems to hold its breath. He painted these hills for the feeling of them more than the facts, all air and atmosphere. Woven into a soft, double-sided throw, it becomes the layer you reach for on a cool evening, and, folded over the arm of the sofa, a mountain view you can keep in the room long after the season has turned.
