Monet's Water Lily Pond looks across his garden at Giverny to the green arched footbridge he built over the water, willows trailing at its edges and lilies resting on the surface below. It is nearly all green — a dozen greens folded into one another until the pond, the leaves and their reflections become a single cool, breathing whole. A picture made simply from standing and looking. On a wall you pass often, it brings the calm of a shaded garden indoors.
Printed to be kept — giclée on gallery-grade archival paper, its greens held true for years.
