Seurat's final study for Bathers at Asnières — young men and boys resting on the grassy bank of the Seine, one boy at the water's edge, the chimneys of the suburb hazy across the river. Looser than the great canvas it prepared, it holds the same still, sunlit calm: a warm summer afternoon with nowhere to be. It brings a broad, settled quiet to a bedroom or a living-room wall, the kind of scene you sink into slowly.
Printed to be lived with — giclée on gallery-grade archival paper, so the colour holds for years.
