Rubens's Massacre of the Innocents — one of his most powerful and harrowing histories, a surge of struggling mothers and soldiers rendered with unflinching force and the full weight of his draughtsmanship. It is not a gentle image, but a great one: muscular, tumultuous, painted with tremendous command of the human figure. A serious work for a collector's wall. Give it space and good light — a study or a stairwell where a demanding painting can be met on its own terms.

Made to be lived with — giclée on smooth, archival paper that keeps its colour true.

  • Giclée print on smooth, acid-free 220gsm gallery-grade fine-art paper
  • Matte finish, faithful colour

The photos on the site are honest, which is more than I can say for most places. It got here ahead of the estimate and in perfect condition. The colors are richer in daylight than they looked on my laptop. We keep the thermostat down all winter and this makes the guest bedroom feel warmer than it is.

Shipping was slower than the estimate, though the item itself is very good. I looked at three sellers before choosing this Rubens, and Massacre of the Innocents was the right call. Summers here run humid from May through September and nothing about it has sagged or warped. Recommended, with the caveat about the wait…

Better than the photos

This showed up three days after I ordered it and I have not stopped looking at it since. My husband could not name a Rubens painting before this, and now he points Massacre of the Innocents out to guests. It shipped the day after I ordered, with a real tracking number that worked.

Happy this worked out. Let us know how it holds up over the year. - the Slow Objet team

good, not flawless

I nearly canceled the order when it was late, and I am glad I did not. Colors in Massacre of the Innocents are a little softer than the listing images. Tracking went quiet for about a week in the middle. It is not flawless up close, and from a normal distance it looks great. The gripes are small enough that I will be back.

Two of us carried the box in expecting the worst and everything inside was perfectly protected. The texture in Massacre of the Innocents is visible from across the room. Buy it, you will not regret it…

Great poster, great service

Our upstairs hallway had been half finished for a year and this was the piece that closed it out. There is real depth in Massacre of the Innocents that cheaper versions lose completely. Our county road kicks up red clay dust and this still looks as clean as the day it came. It made the whole upstairs hallway come together.

Better than the photos

My husband walked past it and immediately asked where it came from. My husband could not name a Rubens painting before this, and now he points Massacre of the Innocents out to guests…

no notes, genuinely

I read every review before ordering and I can confirm they were all accurate. 👌

We put the poster in the kitchen the night it came and the space finally makes sense. Visitors notice Massacre of the Innocents before they notice the furniture. You will not find better at this price.

Warmer tone than the listing

The photos are close, though the real thing reads a little softer. I wanted Massacre of the Innocents for this spot for a long time and it mostly delivers. Docking one star for the delivery, nothing else.

So glad it landed well. We will pass this along to the crew who packed your order. - Nadia, Customer Care

Recommend with one caveat

My hallway is small and this still worked, though it is close to the limit. Edges around Massacre of the Innocents are slightly tighter than the listing image showed. Tracking went quiet for about a week in the middle.

My favorite thing here

I unwrapped this in the kitchen and my daughter asked if we could get another one. My daughter recognized Massacre of the Innocents from a museum trip we took two summers ago. The price felt fair when I ordered and feels like a steal now. The driver left the box on the porch through a thunderstorm and everything inside stayed dry. If something happened to it I would replace it the same day. 🙂

Ten out of ten.

My mom has been asking for the link since the day she saw it. Scale was my worry, and Massacre of the Innocents got exactly the room it needed at this size. The color matches the listing photos closely enough that I did a double take. Every corner and edge on the poster was finished properly. I will be back before the holidays.
