Peter Paul Rubens' Massacre of the Innocents is among his most powerful and harrowing works — a swirl of straining figures and raw emotion, painted with breathtaking command of the human form. Woven into a double-sided throw, that intensity resolves into deep, tactile colour and a real sense of gallery presence. A serious piece of art history rather than a quiet landscape, it drapes with weight over the sofa and holds its own, folded, as a bold statement in a room.

  • Jacquard-woven, double-sided and reversible; finished with fringed edges
  • Soft, cosy cotton-blend — a warm layer and a piece of art at once
  • Machine washable; made to order

Better than the photos

The quality is obvious the second you get it out of the box. I have wanted a good version of Massacre of the Innocents in this house for years. It is easily my favorite thing in the sunroom now…

This is the third thing I have ordered here and the quality has been consistent every time. Ordering this meant seeing Massacre of the Innocents every single morning, which was the whole point. Well worth the money.

The materials feel good and the finish is even, top to bottom. Edges around Massacre of the Innocents are slightly tighter than the listing image showed. The driver left the box on the porch through a thunderstorm and everything inside stayed dry. Good enough that I am considering a second one.

wish I had sized up

I ordered this for our breakfast nook and it does everything I wanted, with one small caveat. The darker parts of Massacre of the Innocents lose a bit of detail under lamplight. 😍

Six months in, still perfect

The tracking updated at every step and it landed a day ahead of the estimate. Standing six feet back, Massacre of the Innocents reads exactly the way it should. You have a repeat customer in me.

Ten out of ten.

Six months in, it looks the same as the day it came out of the box. I have wanted a good version of Massacre of the Innocents in this house for years.

Made our stairwell

The size is exactly what the listing said, down to the inch. Everything about the experience was easy.

My husband noticed immediately

The quality is obvious the second you get it out of the box. Everything that makes Massacre of the Innocents worth looking at is still there up close.

Very happy, minor quibble

The box was well packed and everything inside was in perfect condition. At four stars I would still say Massacre of the Innocents does what I hoped in this room.

Took three weeks to arrive

My family room is small and this still worked, though it is close to the limit. It came through a January cold snap sitting on the porch at ten below. The gripes are small enough that I will be back.

wish I had sized up

It sat at a distribution center for five days with no updates, which was frustrating. There is a small area of Massacre of the Innocents where the definition drops off.

Better than the photos

We put the blanket in the stairwell the night it came and the space finally makes sense. My husband could not name a Rubens painting before this, and now he points Massacre of the Innocents out to guests. Support answered my email the same afternoon with an actual answer. This is coming with us to the next house.

Underdelivered on the details

Everyone in the house is indifferent to it, including me. I have seen better versions of this Rubens, though Massacre of the Innocents is passable here. The finish is uneven in a couple of spots, though nothing is obviously defective. For roughly this money I have bought better elsewhere. Nothing about this works in a high desert climate, and I should have asked first.

Fair points, all of them. Reach out if you would like help finding a better fit, and we will hold onto your comments about the photos. - Nadia
