I ordered this on a whim during a sale and it turned out to be the best thing I bought all year. The blues in The Capture of Samson match what I remember from seeing the Rubens in person.
We put money aside for a few months to buy this and I would do it again tomorrow. My daughter recognized The Capture of Samson from a museum trip we took two summers ago. Guests notice it within a minute of walking in. The listing dimensions were accurate to within about half an inch. It came through a January cold snap sitting on the porch at ten below.
The quality is obvious the second you get it out of the box. A Rubens at this price seemed too good to be true, and The Capture of Samson proved me wrong. Everything came double boxed with the corners padded. Well worth the money.
I bought this after two months of looking and I wish I had done it sooner. It looks expensive next to things that cost twice as much. Guests notice it within a minute of walking in. We had two weeks of smoke season with the windows shut and it did not hold the smell…
I have ordered from four stores this year and this was the only one with no issues. It photographs beautifully, and I send pictures to my mother constantly.
I paid more than I usually would and I am mostly glad I did. It works with what we already own, which was the main test. Two people have asked where we got it. My in-laws drove up from Charleston and asked about it before they sat down.
I unwrapped this in the kitchen and my daughter asked if we could get another one. The color matches the listing photos closely enough that I did a double take. Thank you for getting this so right.
This showed up three days after I ordered it and I have not stopped looking at it since. This was my first Rubens in the house, and The Capture of Samson has more than earned its spot. Order it, you will thank me.
The size is exactly what the listing said, down to the inch. I have seen The Capture of Samson in books for twenty years and this is the first version that felt right. Recommending this to anyone who asks.
Support was polite every time I wrote, and nothing got resolved quickly. Colors in The Capture of Samson came out muted rather than rich. My initial reaction was disappointment and I have warmed to it a little. Three months of Florida humidity and it already looks tired. It stays because returning it is not worth the effort.
Fair points, all of them. Reach out if you would like help finding a better fit, and we will hold onto your comments about the photos. - Nadia
