Winslow Homer's Adirondacks Guide portrays one of the seasoned woodsmen who led him through the northern forests — a figure wholly at home among pine, rock and water. Painted in earthy, confident watercolour, it carries real regard for a life lived outdoors, weathered and self-possessed. There is nothing romantic about it, only quiet competence. On a wall it brings the calm of deep woods and the steadying company of someone who belongs to that wild, green country.
Printed to be kept — giclée on gallery-grade archival paper, the woodland tones held true.
