Winslow Homer's Fishing off Scarborough looks out on the Yorkshire coast at work — boats and fisherfolk set against the broad, changeable North Sea he came to know in England. Painted in muted, weathered watercolour, it carries the salt and grey of that shore, and a real respect for the people who make their living on it. On a wall it brings the honest, wind-worn calm of a working coast, steady and unshowy and quietly enduring.
